Getting Started: Your Next Steps

1. Schedule Your Appointment

If you haven’t done so already, we invite you to schedule your first visit with us. You can do this by:

2. Complete Your New Patient Forms

To help us serve you better and minimize wait times, please visit our Office Forms page before your first visit. Here, you will find all the necessary paperwork to complete in advance. Bringing your completed forms with you will help streamline the check-in process, allowing us to focus on what matters most—your vision!

3. Prepare for Your First Visit

Your initial appointment will be a comprehensive eye examination, which includes pupil dilation. Dilation is a standard part of the exam that allows us to examine the health of your retina and detect any underlying conditions. However, it may cause temporary light sensitivity and slightly blurred vision. Because of this, we recommend the following:

  • Bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from bright light after your exam.
  • Consider bringing a driver if you are sensitive to dilation effects or if you feel more comfortable having someone assist you.
  • Plan to be in our office for at least one hour (possibly longer, depending on your specific eye care needs).

If you have any questions about your exam or what to expect, don’t hesitate to reach out before your appointment.

Yes! We accept a variety of insurance plans. If you’re unsure whether we accept yours, feel free to call our office, and we’ll be happy to assist you in verifying your coverage.

2. How often should I have an eye exam?

The frequency of eye exams depends on your age, health, and vision needs. Generally:

  • Adults should have a comprehensive eye exam every 1-2 years.
  • Children should have their first eye exam around age 3 and then yearly afterward.
  • Seniors and individuals with certain medical conditions (such as diabetes or a history of eye disease) may need more frequent exams.

3. Can I get glasses or contact lenses during my first visit?

Yes! If you need a new prescription for glasses or contacts, we will perform a refraction test during your exam. You can choose frames from our selection or discuss contact lens options with our team.

4. What should I bring to my appointment?

For your first visit, please bring:

  • Your completed new patient forms (if not submitted online).
  • Your insurance card; including major medical/secondary insurance and vision plans.
  • A list of any medications you are currently taking.
  • Any current glasses you use.
  • If you wear contact lenses, please bring the current boxes or a valid prescription written by another provider.

Not necessarily. Pupil dilation is important for a comprehensive retinal evaluation but may not be required at every visit. If you are unsure whether you will need dilation, feel free to ask our team when scheduling your appointment.

6. Do you offer emergency eye care?

Yes! If you experience sudden vision loss, eye pain, flashes of light, floaters, or any eye injury, please call us immediately. We offer urgent care for eye emergencies and will do our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.
