Examinations

If you’ve never visited an eye care professional you may be unsure what to expect. Seldom do any of our tests or procedures cause pain or discomfort.  Much of what we do is to get to know you and your needs, your general health issues, and your hobbies and interests for which you rely on your vision. We focus on you as an individual and all aspects of your eye care in our office. Since many general health conditions and medicines can affect your vision and eyes, a thorough history is essential.  Your first visit in our office may take up to one hour, perhaps longer depending on your needs, complexity of care, and necessary baseline tests.

Your eyes will be dilated during your first visit in our office (diabetics eyes are dilated yearly or more often). Pupil dilation remains the best method to detect very subtle and early nerve and retinal disease.  Although it is a minor inconvenience, pupil dilation is still the method preferred by retinal specialists for evaluation of the paper thin tissue that allows you to see.  For this reason it is the standard of care and the method of retinal examination we recommend.

We believe you will enjoy being examined in a private eye doctors office where the emphasis is on YOU and your well being.  We have grown our practice by excelling at fun, personalized service and we look forward to meeting you and your family.

If you are new patient to us, please proceed to our new patients page and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
